Yonsei University (President Yoon Dong-seop) announced on May 29 that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Trident Global Holdings for AI-based rare earth materials and new drug development cooperation at Underwood Hall.

Through this agreement, both institutions will cooperate on establishing an AI-based rare earth new materials and pharmaceutical research institute and developing AI-based new materials and drug discovery algorithms. Trident will provide world-class NVIDIA B200 GPU clusters (4,096 GPUs, 512 nodes) as research infrastructure, while Yonsei University will support research personnel and facilities. This cluster represents the highest specification AI supercomputing infrastructure as of 2025, enabling rapid execution of complex research including large-scale materials simulation and drug candidate discovery.

The research institute aims to conduct convergence research in AI technology, rare earth materials science, and bio-pharmaceutical development, playing a pivotal role in industry-academia cooperation and global research networks.

Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop stated, "Through this MOU, Yonsei University will leap forward as a university leading global innovation in AI, new materials, and bio fields. We will strive to generate substantial research outcomes through cooperation with Trident."

Trident Chairman Yoon Jong-hyeok said, "We are excited to explore new possibilities through the convergence of AI and rare earth materials technology with Yonsei University. This cooperation will accelerate the development of globally competitive new materials and pharmaceuticals."

Following the research institute establishment, joint research projects, talent development programs, and global academic exchanges are planned.
